How to get a ski season job (and when to apply)

Most ski season jobs for the northern hemisphere open between August and October. Resorts do one big hiring round, so applying early matters more than a perfect CV — staff housing runs out before the jobs do.

Start with the role, not the resort. Lift operations, chalet hosting, bar work and kitchen jobs need no certification. Ski instructor jobs in Europe require at least a level 1 qualification from a body like BASI, CSIA or their national equivalent.

Apply to five to ten resorts in the same week, with a short email: your dates, the roles you can do, and one line about why that resort. Follow up once after ten days.

When you get an offer, ask three questions before signing: is housing included and how much is deducted, when does the contract start paying, and is a season lift pass part of the deal.
